Good evening!
Today's news post will focus on all the new information I have to reveal concerning the game's release, as well as the ongoing progress of the playtesting operation. Before that, though... Why don't you take a look at the game's shiny new trailer?
Pretty nice, huh?
Readers with a good memory may remember that there was another DATING OF THE FUTURE trailer from some months ago. While that contained a lot of strong elements, the goal with this one was to try and better express the tone of the game; something that I felt the prior trailer had failed to properly convey.
(Also, I obviously needed to make sure this trailer was up-to-date with all the latest character designs and GUI).
DATING OF THE FUTURE RELEASES OCTOBER 23rd 2025!
Pretty soon, huh? Well, this is basically the last good time to release it before the end of the year, so it's now or never!
Make sure you've wishlisted the game on Steam, so you'll be alerted when it comes out!
If you're wondering why the release date wasn't in the trailer, it's because I was afraid that I'd have to move it if Hollow Knight: Silksong decided to release too close to it... I'm acutely aware of the fact that DATING OF THE FUTURE releases only a month and a bit after Silksong... I can only hope that that's long enough.
Anyway, until then I'll be posting a lot on my Twitter and Bluesky. If you're curious about new details about the game, make sure you're following me on those platforms (although the posts will be identical).
I hope you enjoy seeing the final lap of DATING OF THE FUTURE's journey to release!
Since last month, our diligent playtesting squadron has been hard at work mining DATING OF THE FUTURE for every possible criticism.
It has been a HUMUNGOUS effort, and one that I am extremely grateful for everyone's contributions to. It's been so rewarding to see people play and enjoy the game without being my personal friends, or even being threatened with violence. Thank you so much, guys!
While the playtesters are really there to experience the game and explain their thoughts on it, many of them have taken an interest in hunting for bugs and typos. As a result, a few bugs and an enormous amount of typos have been found and resolved.
After I released notes on all the character-specific writing styles, I was absolutely torn to shreds by the sheer amount of typos that suddenly cropped up. I'm strong enough a woman to admit that I had to figure out what "regex" was REAL FAST to get ahead of all these issues...
Some larger changes have been making their way into the game, too. These range anywhere from presentation changes to make certain things more obvious to players, to quality of life changes like making stickers persist between save files.
Thanks to everyone helping to make DATING OF THE FUTURE as good an experience as it can possibly be!
... And thanks to everyone submitting their shitposts.
As DATING OF THE FUTURE's release draws nearer, the more terrifying the prospect becomes.
I'm prepared to publish the game as a purchasable product, but I don't really know what to after that. I haven't even really figured out what "success" or "failure" mean at this point.
Whatever happens, I'm just grateful for everyone supporting me along the way.
Thank you.
